Library Home Page Face-Lift

Hi everyone,

Sometime soon, probably over the summer, a new design for the USF Website will be released. Included is the library homepage. To tide us over until then, Randy has made some changes that went into affect today.

Check it out! What do you think? What's the most useful improvement you noticed? Do you have any criticisms?

yea I like it, I was a bit confused yesterday because I didn't know it had changed. I still think some people will get confused with the search of "Find Journal" I know it has an explanation at the bottom but people don't like to read. Not our fault though. I think students will like it.

Only thing I would say is if the search box automatically goes to a proquest search, then we should eliminate the proquest link below it.

because when you search for books in ignacio it's automatically a keyword search. i guess it takes some getting use to..

I think that most patrons will have a simpler time getting around with the new titles, e.g. Find Books. I also like the quick launch to Proquest. Seeing as how its our most popular search engine and takes quite a bit of time to boot, its certainly a welcomed addition. The only thing is I'm not a big fan of is Encore. It doesn't really integrate well with the variety of resources that the library has and only has a keyword search.

It'll take some time getting used for the patrons.

I don't mind the change, it is still very accessible. -Jeremy

I think the updates are fine and if they help people to understand the website a little better then that's great. one criticism is that there is not option to do a call# search for ignacio.. i was able to find the call number option under the title search tab and then on the pull down menu but i feel like most patrons wont know how to find it thus i think it would be beneficial to add a call number search option like we use to have.
