More info about Pharos / Xerox

Hello everyone!

FYI, students who previously installed Pharos on their personal computers will need to install the new Pharos drivers for the Xerox machines. (All USF-owned computers should have had the new driver directly pushed to them.)

To know if the job is being sent correctly, verify that the name of the printer has "Xerox" in it.

A word about the drivers:
There are two versions of the drivers: the challenger version, which "challenges" you by asking for your username and password. This is the driver installed on lab computers and students' personal computers. The other version is the passthrough version, which sends the job directly to the server, associating the login credentials with the print job. In other words, on staff computers, the printer knows who the job belongs to because of the credentials used to log into the computer.

The new drivers can be downloaded from Purchasing's web page:
http://www.usfca.edu/purchasing/mfp/
(They have new tutorials and help available there, including YouTube videos that walk you through all the steps of printing.)

I have also saved the new drivers directly to a purple Lexar USB drive that we keep at the Reference Desk.

I have updated our handouts "Printing to Pharos for PC" and "Printing to Pharos for Mac" and have stocked the holder at the Reference Desk with the new versions.

To access the electronic version of the handouts, follow the link on the Pharos wiki (at the very bottom of the wiki):

I will continue updating the wiki as time goes by.
