Procedure for reporting computer problems

If you discover a problem with a machine
in our lab (including not allowing logins),
please send me an email with

1 - the inventory number (red tag with a barcode on the front)
2 - a description of the problem
3 - where the computer is located in the lab

If the problem prevents folks from reasonably using the computer, go ahead and put an out of order sign on it.

One of the first steps to troubleshooting is rebooting (another first step is making sure the ends of the ethernet cable are plugged in correctly). Try that and see if it fixes the problem. If it does, then report it to me but do not put an out of order sign on it.
