Cool News About Google Scholar

Google... the one stop shop, right?

We all love Google, and us library people especially Google Scholar, which you can search to find academic sources. Highly recommended when the library's subscribed database aren't turning up results, as well as a last stop to find some full text.

Well Google Scholar just got a little cooler!

Follow these steps to include links to find our library's FULL TEXT in the preferences.

1. Scholar Preferences
From scholar.google.com, go to Scholar Preferences in the top right corner
1. Scholar Preferences
2. Find USF Library
Under Library Links, search for University of San Francisco then select University of San Francisco - USF: Find Full-Text. Save.
2. Find USF Library
3. USF Find Full-Text Links Appear in Results
When you do your search, now the USF Find Full-Text link will appear next to some articles. The results that don't have the link are usually books or sources that the tool otherwise doesn't apply to.
3. USF Find Full-Text Links Appear in results

How cool is that? Do you plan to show this to patrons? How about use it in your own research?

cool, so now gives us access to all articles that are in all the databases that we subscribe too, right?

it hooks us up with the articles we subscribe to, i.e. makes it easier to find the full text. because that tool is there, you don't have to open a new window and copy and paste the journal title into journal finder
