Hi everyone! If you are interested in getting a public safety escort home after your closing shift in the library, visit this public safety webpage for information on this service.

We had a meeting with Dan Lawson, the head of public safety, here in the library, and he was very supportive of propositioning them if you are in need of a service they do not outline in their policies. For example, if you need an escort home after work to an area outside their bounds, I encourage you to discuss it with Public Safety.

Thank you for looking into this! I am working a closing shift tonight so we shall see how this public safety escort works out!

I gave public safety a call explaining the situation and they said they "haven't made exceptions in the past and wont make an exception now." (I live 4 blocks outside of the boundary)
They took down my information and I'm going to write public safety to see if something can be arranged. I'll keep you posted.

Hi Katie, Thanks for looking into this. I am sorry you are having troubles. Would you want to arrange a walking buddy if someone from another department in the library got off work the same time as you and was heading in your direction?

Hi Katie, another thing that comes to mind is getting a bike and using it for your transportation. It is certainly safer than walking, I know Carol prefers to bike on days she works late.
