Student Assistant Manual (aka your bible!)

Hi everyone!

Yesterday I updated the student assistant manual. Have you checked it out lately? I highly recommend reading through it while you are at work. It's not really that long and I promise you will learn something you didn't know, no matter how seasoned you may consider yourself.

Some changes:

• Clarification of shift coverage: asking for shift coverage involves a risk; as the initiator you are ultimately responsible for your shift, even if someone agreed to cover it
• Additional task for closers: Once a week clean public workstations, including the keyboard, screen, and mice
• Updated Staff Directory info
• Updated instructions for creating guest accounts
• Updated sick leave info

Is there anything you can think should be added to the manual? Comment with it!
What did you learn by reading through the manual?

Check it out!

i learned that the reference computer screens, keyboards, and mouses should be cleaned once a week but i'm confused since the computers don't have ref #'s anymore, how will we note them?

Sounds good Kelci, I'll study up on it. I didn't realize that we should shut down the printers too.

Yea same here I didnt know we had to shut off the printers. This one was probably already in here but I didn't know we had an emergency button under the desk on the librarian side.

i want to note that the emergency button contacts public safety, then they will call you on the reference phone. pushing the button does not automatically summon them

Cool beans. I read through the manual and will remember to clean the work stations and computers! I also did not know that there was an emergency button. :)
